Why Bother
It's June. Some American visited India and somehow convinced (not blackmailed) our government to spend $500bn in next 5 yrs on American goods. Good grief. Our economy plunged from Rank 4 to 6 on global level and now our stock market got surpassed by Taiwan. Things are not going well anywhere but what's happening in India makes global economy look like sunshine and rainbows. The gross figures look good but wealth gap is dangerously widening. We are looking at K shaped development. The gap is clearly seen between workers and investors. Last year 1 USD= 85 INR. Now it's 1USD= 95 INR. Some investors have made huge fortune but workers' salaries have remained unchanged. Doesn't matter if you're a blue collar guy or tech hotshot. If you are on fixed income then you're actually on downhill path.
It's only Zero Sum Game..
Salaried class is struggling for sure. And investors, don't think they have any advantage. If you have terrible air, water, roads, adulterated foods, low level education system what's the point of earning lots of money? Money is useless if your family's future is compromised. Look at the kids today, they can't even tell time. Analog watch feels like alien technology to them. Their attention span is dwindling. They're mannerless because of modern entertainment. What's the point of earning wealth if your next generation is too worthless to maintain it.
Not just in India but all over the world, we are not adding any value, to economy neither to our life. We are just consuming, not creating anything. We are not even making babies anymore. The one thing any idiot could do a decade ago doesn't even look possible in today's world. All the factors seem to be going against you. Personally I just feel like quitting this rat race and live like retired Italian businessman(I am not old). I do have enough savings so why bother chasing more money, invest in mutual funds. Just enjoy life, avoid city life, stop chasing any goal. The stress would eventually wear off and maybe I'll start looking handsome again. Get a significantly younger girlfriend and if God has his way maybe get married, have kids. Chasing money can never solve problem because politicians will always find some excuse to raise taxes. We can never be rich by earning money. Wealth can only be experienced by making lifestyle amendments.
